The three branches of government are the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch.
- Executive Branch: The executive branch is responsible for carrying out bills passed by the legislative branch and run day to day operations of USG. It is headed by the President. The executive branch also includes the Vice President, the Cabinet, and other ex-officio members. The President has the power to veto legislation passed by Senate.
Legislative Branch: The legislative branch is responsible for writing amendments, bills, and resolutions. It consists of the Senate, which is made up of student representatives from student organizations across campus.
Judicial Branch: The judicial branch is responsible for interpreting the laws created by the legislative branch and enforcing. It includes The Court of Student Governance which is made up of four (4) Justices and one (1) Chief Justice.
In summary, the legislative branch passes amendments, bills, and resolutions, the executive branch carries out the day to day operations, and the judicial branch interprets laws and ensures that they are applied fairly and within the bounds of the Constitution.
