The purpose of the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate Initiatives fund is a part of the USG budget allocated every year towards certain projects by the Undergraduate Senate. These funds can be utilized by the Initiatives Committee, Senate, and/or Student Organizations (IF SOG, UEEG funds are exhausted).
The purpose of this money is to fund projects that can benefit the student body as a whole. Senate representatives can introduce bills to utilize these funds for initiative projects. Examples of types of Initiatives that have been passed:

Money that is utilized by the senate must go through Senate voting (Will have two (2) readings before voting).
USG funds are limited to the same guidelines as the Student Development Funding committee guidelines (Refer SOG & UEEG).
USG Funding Limitations:
- $1,500.00 maximum per year per student organization for attending a conference.
- $2,000.00 maximum per year per student organization for hosting events.
- Student organizations can not combine the amounts listed above and may only receive a total of $2,000.00 from USG each year.
- Student organizations can not host events together to increase the $2,000.00 limitation list above.
- Student organizations can also not retroactively request reimbursements for already purchases expenses in a funding request.
Ways to receive funds from USG:
- Reimbursement
- USG purchases items
- Internal transfer (IU Departmental Billing Account)
In order to receive money from USG, USG must receive something in return (e.g advertisements, tabling, recognition, etc) Initiatives has as much money, as is allocated at the beginning of the semester. Hence, budget changes can be made with Senate approval.
